Taqwa – Part Two
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم This is Part Two of a posting on the 18th hadeeth of Imam Nawawi’s “Fourty Hadeeth”. Part One is available here. We left off discussing the meaning of Taqwa. Here are the four definitions as a reminder: Fearing Allah Obeying Allah Being content with what Allah has given us Wishing to meet Allah Now on to the third and fourth definitions. In Surah Luqman Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says: وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا لُقْمَانَ الْحِكْمَةَ أَنِ اشْكُرْ لِلَّـهِ ۚ وَمَن يَشْكُرْ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ اللَّـهَ غَنِيٌّ حَمِيدٌ And We had certainly given Luqman wisdom [and said], “Be grateful to Allah.” And whoever is grateful is grateful for [the benefit of] himself.
